Good Day!

So I heard MFP (myfatpocket.com) is looking for the next MFP Blogger so here I am with my entry on why I think I could join the MFP family!

BEING A BLOGGER

Now, some blogger maintain their blogs mainly on a specific topic such as Fashion and Beauty, Food, Parenting, Entertainment or IT and etc, but what I love to do, is blog about Life in general. Everything from Food to Fashion, Marriage, Housing and Sex, Gadgets and IT, Traveling, Personal Life and Pets(Animal Lover!) and even Gaming! Being able to blog about anything under the sun is something I believe what MFP needs!

A Little About Myself: 

The name's Valerie. I am a 22 year old, currently expecting my first child (Due August'14) and will be married for 3 years this coming May'14. Yups, I got married at 19 years old! I took a little turn from what others my age would normally do. At 19, many were still studying and enjoying life as it is but I got married with my then boyfriend now husband after 3years+ of dating. We had plans and they're now all falling into place after some hard work! Although hubby's 8 years older than me, I never feel the age difference and after being together and going through many things together for almost 7 years, we're close to the extent that we both can leave the bathroom door open when we do our business! Haha! >.<

Recently we also purchased a 4-Room Resale Flat and it's currently in renovation works to becoming our own little cozy crib and will be done by early May! EXCITED!!! :D

So seeing that I've been through the teenage years, marriage, now expecting a baby and also having purchased a unit of our own, there's so many things I can blog about!

Oh yeah! I haven't mention that I used to do some Freelance Modeling & Events before I got pregnant! So Fashion and Beauty definitely applies! :)

LANGUAGE PROFICIENCY

It is hard to find someone who commands a perfect standard of the English Language nowadays and being a blogger isn't about being a Literate Expert either. But let's face it, being able to properly write and convey your thoughts or opinions in your entries is crucial. Especially when you're advertising for a brand or product. How you market the product you're reviewing, how you describe the product/service you've tried is important. I mean, no one wants to read while struggling to understand the grammar or spelling used when trying to get to know of a product or service!

I am definitely not perfect in the English Language, but I'm confident that I can generate a decent blog post and not let readers have difficulty wondering, "Isn't that word spelled wrongly? So was I wrong all my life or did she spell it incorrectly?" or "Y da Hell ds she type lik tis?!" Haha, trust me, I've read blogs that gave me quite a hard time reading through so I ended up giving up and searched for another review which explained things clearly and doesn't reek of too much broken English. Singlish on the other hand is a whole different story. It is definitely part of Singaporeans and when we blog about our personal lives, Singlish tend to come in handy to elaborate and describe the exact feeling and thoughts about a situation and also to relate better to our readers as well!

MARKETING

Let's be honest here, many of the sponsored reviews we see nowadays from popular and top bloggers, there is at least 30% of their own marketing ability thrown in to make the product/service sound and look good or promising. But this does NOT mean that all reviews from top bloggers are fake and the actual product/service does not actually work that well.

To me, the products and services itself carries about 30% of its own true quality/brand name,etc. The next 20% comes from the packaging and what has already been advertised aside from the blogger. The last 50%, comes from what the blogger says and posts about the products/services! Whether the blogger looks good from using the product and service, how beautiful the photos are (yes, everyone loves to look at nice photos and things! It's in our nature! Look at Miyake! She's gorgeous!), and if the blogger says it works or not!

Most of the time, when the blogger says it's good and it works, readers tend to sub-consciously believe that the products works already! Then it's down to the pricing, other values and etc. It's really quite realistic and straightforward in this area I guess.. Whoever has the best marketing strategy which includes the beautiful photos, words, praises and correct approach WINS!

WHY VALERIE?

So why me?!

I am able to blog about ANYTHING under the sun so bring on all the topics! I also have a rich interaction with people on my Facebook with many wonderful supporters to share my experiences with! When I blog, I don't go on ranting about what I did when I woke til moments before I shut my eyes. It's usually something important and meaningful or reviews about products and events so fear not that you'll end up with the "I woke up at 9am today, went to brush my teeth, ate breakfast, went out, came home 8pm, bathed and slept at 10pm" kind of entries! Haha.

Alright then, now that I've tried to market myself to MFP, I do hope I fit the bill and work with MFP someday! Maybe not as the winner of  The Next MFP Blogger but we could start somewhere small yeah? :)
