The Scene Hair Salon - Raffles Shopping Centre

I've been battling with my dry, frizzy and extremely damage hair for a long while now due to frequent dyeing as I unfortunately inherited the "curse" of having premature white hair from my dad (Had it since I was 13 years old!).
The strong dyes and my naturally thick coarse hair means that without going for regular treatments, the condition of my hair becomes extremely horrible.

Having a full time job and taking care of Tyrael while juggling to spend time with my family means it's hard to find the time for frequent trips to the salon therefore I've since neglected my hair and have left it unkempt. So I'm looking to The Scene Hair Salon to save my hair from becoming even worse! They kindly invited me to try out their services and I was really looking forward to having a pamper session for my locks.

The Scene is a fresh new and upcoming Korean Salon. I was delighted to know that The Scene specializes in Korean perms and styling; seeing that Korean ladies always rock such soft and flowy hairdos. I'm sure you've seen their natural wavy perms that looks effortless! Keyword is 'looks' because after my session I got to see how much effort my stylist put in to make my curls look perfect.

When I arrived, I was promptly escorted to a seat. Not long after, my stylist, Jade, came over and asked me about what I would like to do. Beforehand I've already decided to leave it up to them entirely as I was open to any new styles I could try. He examined my hair before deciding to give my hair a wash first to determine my true hair condition without the help of conditioners, and see if my hair is suitable for perming or any chemical procedures.

Checking my hair the second time after the wash to judge whether or not we could go forward with any chemical procedures such as perming of hair. After giving it a good look and thought, he decided that we should do a treatment this time round and have me come back in a few weeks' time for anything else as they did not want to risk ruining my hair with perming.

This had me impressed as they did not forcefully go ahead with perming despite my hair condition just to get more reviews on their perming services. The hairstylist, Jade, and In charge, Jack, took the time to explain to me what they recommend I do for this round's service sampling.

Very efficiently they applied the treatment and I was left with the heat machine for a little while to work it's magic.

Here are the steps for the DEESSE's [L.M] 3+1 Hair Treatment:

1. The first step is to apply moisture and heat so that your hair cuticles will be larger for the next steps.
2.  Secondly, protein is applied to strengthen your hair.
3. Third is to wash your hair before applying oil onto your hair as above will make it too thick.
4. Fourthly, oil is applied to make the hair silky.
   
   After the 4 steps are completed, finally we wash the hair again and cover the cuticles with heat care or colour mask so that the chemicals applied doesn't get out.

Yups, the bottle of water and comfy pillow sure made me feel comfortable at the salon!

Once the treatment is done, my hair is washed and dried to be ready for some awesome styling!

For this, I think my words would bore you so here's photo evidence of how my hair looked after the treatment and after styling by hairstylist Jade which he put in a lot of effort to make sure I walked out of the salon with great hair and feeling good!

My hair is saved! It's so so so much better here after treatment and I was also advised to chop off a 5cm of hair for my next visit to get rid of the ends of my hair.

The ever so patient and helpful Jack Chu who was there to guide me through the process and explain to me the steps and procedures by translating what Jade said in Korean. I almost felt like I was in Seoul, Korea as listening to the Korean Language made me felt like I was in a Korean drama! Thanks to my wonderful sis who accompanied me throughout and helped me to snap a few shots for this blog post! Wouldn't Have It Any Other Way

Hello, it's been a long time.

Today, I wanna say this. I wouldn't have it any other way.

What is it you might ask?

Becoming a mother, my beloved Tyrael's mother.

Recently, Hubby and I made a big decision, that is to let our helper go. We noticed that her heart was no longer here and she had talked about going back to her country next March'16 just several days before we decided it was time.

You might think, why would letting go your helper be a big decision? You just won't have someone to settle your housework for you or have extra free time while your helper helps to attend to your baby (Etc: Longer bath times, Movies).

With the helper gone, Hubby and I are handling everything ourselves. Of course, it is our job and responsibility after all, to handle our household and baby ourselves. But it's a different society and age now compared to the last generation. Back then, many wives could easily be stay home mums and with just the husband working, a family of 5 was still sustainable. Now?! No way!

Most mothers now have to continue working as soon as our maternity leave is over and work hard to keep our jobs if not, the family will have to "eat grass". Lol.

We started Tyrael with a infant care centre so we know he'll be in good care while both of us mug hard at work during the day. Man how heartbreaking it is to see your baby cry for more than half an hour due to not being used to the new environment and new people. Parents who send their children to infant care/childcare will know this best, that our precious Prince & Princesses will most likely fall sick.

Best of all, you have no one else to help you take care of your baby so you don't have to take leave and time off from work, risking the possibility of your bosses not being happy.

Sure it has been so exhausting physically and mentally, so stressful and hard to maintain sanity at times.

With a baby, there's no more freedom of going anywhere you want at any time. No more sleeping in as long as you want. No more fit body, no more many things you have had before and took for granted.

Of course, at times when I am so exhausted and stressed out, I wonder if I would be doing better if I hadn't had a baby. Oh the so many things I could be doing and achieving. I could still have kept my figure, continue my passion of photoshoots, hang out with friends and play games whenever I want.

BUT....

The joy and laughter Tyrael has given me, the motivation and determination he made me have.....

Just his mere existence is a reason why I should press on and fight for a better life for him, for us.

His arrival has changed me so much as a person. I was a lazy girl who only wanted to play, have fun and had no sense of responsibility at all. But now, I am motivated to work hard everyday, get things done, do well at work and earn enough to give him a decent life that he deserves.

With my passion for CSGO gaming, I try my best to find time to play with my team after Tyrael's asleep and housework is done. Because of Tyrael, I am motivated to do well in all I do. Be it work or my gaming passion.

Less time, less freedom, yes that's unavoidable.

I am blessed to still have a husband by my side and blessed to be Tyrael's mum.

I love you my son, and I WOULDN'T HAVE IT ANY OTHER WAY.

Becoming A Mother

As I sit by my dining table with my laptop, I look back and realized, what a ride I've had so far!

It's been 6 months + since Tyrael was born and he's one of the best things that has ever happened to me!

I've never really thought of how it'll be like being a mother until I finally became one. Back when I found out I was pregnant with Tyrael, I was full of excitement, joy, yet doubtful and worried of whether or not I'll do a good job as a mother.

They say being a mother is a lifetime job which requires your lifelong commitment, love, care, attention towards your your child who depends on you so much especially during his/her early years.

When Tyrael was born, from the moment I first saw him, I fell in love and the strong maternal instinct rushed through my body and from that moment on, I knew I wanted to give him the best, raise him well, make sure he doesn't have to worry about not having enough clothing or food, pocket money to school and etc. I want to give him a good childhood.

The past 6 months has been a roller coaster ride. Tough but I've learnt so much from it! From the early newborn days which was the hardest to get by due to Tyrael being colicky, causing restless nights for hubby and I as we chose not to hire help back then to be as hands on as possible and to save money, the days after he turned 2 months old and he was passing his colicky days, slowly both hubby and I got to know Tyrael better and were able to handle him better, we were able to identify his needs and know what he was crying for and attend to that need.

Tyrael on the other hand also got to know us better and from both sides, parents and baby, we were slowly becoming one, a family.

I won't deny, during the early days, there were times when I was so deprived of sleep, tired and frustrated that I lost my temper and was whining and complaining. (Don't worry I did not abuse my baby LOL.) But at the end of the day, when my baby finally sleeps well and you look at his angelic tiny face and body sleeping so soundly, you forget all the fatigue, tiredness and pain. In fact, I felt guilty whenever I lost my temper and whined or complained. No one forced me have a child, it was my own decision so therefore I should be responsible for my baby and shouldn't whine and complain.

Through the past 6 months, I've realized that being a mother is not just about breastfeeding your child for the longest time or making sure you have enough money for him and that's it. It is so much more than that. The time, effort, love, care, concern and nurture you have to provide your child is much more. I find myself wanting the best for my baby and becoming a paranoid woman when it comes to baby care. I make sure my helper follows my way and ensure hygiene is properly taken care of, reminding her of the safety precautions and how to handle baby again and again even though she is already doing it right.

Everywhere I go, I think of baby stuffs first. Like when I go out to malls or the supermarket, the first shops and aisles I rush to is the baby section, looking through what they have in store regardless of whether or not I needed to buy anything. And when I'm there, most likely I leave the place picking up one or two baby stuffs with me. Then I get all excited and rush home to show and give it to Tyrael. Before baby, shopping malls or supermarkets meant buying stuffs for myself, clothes, shoes and all. But I no longer get enticed by those things anymore. Instead, baby stuffs are the main things in my mind nowadays.

I guess many mothers can relate to me on this as all we can think about is our baby now. Especially for working mothers who have to leave their baby in the hands of the caregivers at the infant cares centres, nannies, mothers or mothers in law and such, spending most of our day away from our precious ones.
I'm kinda surprised actually. That I would be thinking about the welfare of another being first as priority always. I thought I could never do that until I had my own child. Almost everything in my life right now, the decisions I make, I have to think whether and how it'll affect Tyrael or my ability to provide for him.

He has grown so much since his newborn days, achieving new milestones every now and then, changing in character, looks and size. His smiles make my day and his laughter fills my heart with happiness and joy. His little achievements and milestones makes me feel so excited I have no words to describe that wonderful feeling when you see your child grow and achieve milestones step by step, one at a time even though it may be just a simple motion like being able to sit up, something many of us take for granted in daily as it comes so naturally and easy to us.

Becoming a mother has been a wonderful and great experience despite the tough times and sacrifices one have to make. I've not once regretted anything but in fact, I look forward to providing the best I can for my baby, I aim to make sure I provide enough for him to not worry about growing up in a poor environment. I vow to nurture him into a decent human being and make sure I spend enough time with him, guiding him through life.
I may not be the best mother in the world, but I will do the best I can for my little one. No one is perfect in the world and so are mothers. Although not perfect, mothers aim to give the best for their child and seeing your them growing well, healthy and strong is the best reward a mother can ever get!

With that I shout out to all mothers, whatever the circumstances or situation you're living in, you being a mother yourself, trying your best for your baby and loving your child unconditionally is admirable to me.
Give yourself a pat on your shoulders and continue to do great for our precious ones!

I also wanna thank my mother for going through childbirth and spending so many years raising me into a decent human being, teaching me the important values in life, love and care which I will make sure to pass down to my child and future children if any.

Call your mother and thank her, regardless of whether or not she was a really good mother. At the very least, she has brought you into this amazing yet complicated world, and you're alive and living right now.

The Clifford Clinic @ Raffles

Hiya!
It's been quite some time since I blogged! Have been busy and adjusting to getting back to work, baby and etc. Also my eye problem, Uveitis relapsed and it's been getting in the way of me blogging, doing work and etc. I'm on medication now and hoping it'll recover soon as it's agony to not be able to see properly! I wanna see my baby Tyrael clearly so much but the now impaired vision is really getting to me!
So after such a long time, I finally managed to squeeze out some time and visit my friend at his new clinic!
More than a year ago, I had fillers and jaw botox done by Gerard and after a few months later I found out about baby Tyrael so ever since then I had not done any aesthetics treatments. So well, with pregnancy comes all the "side effects" as I call it. All the acne, weight gain, bad complexion and etc. I was so taken down by the nausea and tiredness back then I totally forgot what is skincare! Haha.

In the end, when he started the machine, it wasn't as bad as I thought! It feels like a bunch of ants crawling on your face and after a while, it kinda feels numb and there wasn't any pain for me! It only felt like a little sting!

STRETCHMARKS!

Stretchmarks! Oh man, one of the things mothers hope they and pray they wouldn't get! For me unfortunately, towards the end of my pregnancy, the stretchmarks surfaced and made its presence! To think I was kinda getting my hopes up of not getting any of it at all as they didn't appear till I was about 8 months pregnant!

I showed these to Gerard and he said that stretchmarks can definitely be lightened over time and boy was I glad to hear that! What needed to be done to help was to use laser to lighten the marks over sessions. So we did some laser to part of the affected area for me to try. My actual stretchmarks stretches from my butt all the way up to my waist!

Am not gonna show the full photo so here's part of it with proper clothing on. Apologies as the photo are a bit blurry.

It will take time for these stretchmarks to lighten and possibly be treated till almost unseen so I'll update again on the progress after I visit for more treatments!

Tyrael's Baby Shower

Our first ever proper family photo (too bad furkids not in it) thanks to Anson Chew! ^.^

Time flies! It seems like just yesterday, we were still in the hospital, delivering Tyrael and getting to know him for the first time and now he's already 1 months + old!

It was a tough 1 month+, adjusting to our new life, new routine, learning and getting to know our son. Tough, but worthwhile when you see your baby growing well!

So we held Tyrael's baby shower a little earlier before he actually turned 1 month old, the chinese tradition's "Full Month Celebration" that is.

We organized the shower at our own home and also took this event as a official housewarming even though we moved in back in May, only family and a couple of friends came by before.

It was a small scale event, with just about 35pax.. We ordered buffet for the guests coming and sent Full Month cakes to some friends and relatives.

I really wanna thank my sister, who stayed over at my house the days leading up to the event, helping me all around the house, with the furkids, baby, purchasing the deco stuffs and doing up the cardboard banner! Hubby wasn't able to help much as he was busy with work and our boss (we work in same co.) from Taiwan visited Singapore and they had to go meet clients, entertain and etc. I couldn't have done it without you, Tabby! <3 p="" thank="" you="">

Anyway, I shall let the pictures do the talking and add captions to it as baby might wake up anytime and I'll have to attend to him!
